Mom's Day.

This weekend Beta Delta had her annual Mom's Day! It was the perfect spring day for a tea party at the KD house. KD's and their moms showed up to the house in their finest Derby attire (big hats and dresses). Upon arrival, the ladies took pictures by the KD letters and mini tea table (pictured below). A tea and brunch was then served to the lovely ladies. Girls and their mothers donated food for the occasion including brownies, tea scones, cucumber sandwiches, veggies and cupcakes! Following the brunch, Beta Delta and the mothers heard from VP Community Service Samantha Burrows about our philanthropies and what exactly Beta Delta does for the community. VP Standards Chealsey Leach then spoke about the standard of academics BD is held to. Wrapping up the speeches was President Kayleigh Shaughnessy who then gave a mini run down of the year and special events.
Girls and their mothers then got to CRAFT! (A Kappa Delta favorite pastime). A local scrapbooking retailer, Basic Grey, donated tons of crafting supplies as well as gave BD a deal on frames to craft.
The mother daughter bonding continued throughout the day with pictures, fun and more food!

We love our moms!

Beta Delta's 75 Anniversary~

This past weekend Beta Delta celebrated our 75 year anniversary~

We had several alumnae from all over come to join the celebration!  On Friday the 13th, our active members were busy at work preparing the house for later that evening when our alumnae would begin their walk down Kappa Delta memory lane.  When Alumnae arrived they were greeted by our actives who led them into conversation and took them on house tours.  We go to know so many wonderful, accomplished, women that had several great stories to share of their times as active Kappa Deltas.

On the morning of Saturday the 14th, our active members held a mini pref party at the chapter house for our alumnae where we serenaded, mingled, and demonstrated our newer chapter traditions.  We gathered our alumnae and took them into the road and sang "Pat" hand in hand in a large circle!  Our fellow Alpha Chi Omega girls came out on their patio just to watch, and we also had spectators in cars and by the schools student center!  We definitely gave an impression of our love and spirit for Kappa Delta no matter the generation gap.

After our Pref Party, Alumnae and Actives relocated at the Marriott Hotel Conference Center where we had a luncheon.  We heard speeches given by Judy Lawton a member of our Chapter Advisory Board, Kayleigh Shaughnessy our current Chapter President, Heidi Smith our Vice President Membership, and other Alumnae.  Kappa Delta - Beta Delta was also fortunate enough to receive one of our founding Chapter alumna's pins, #4, that will be kept and displayed at the chapter house. Most of all we were very lucky and happy to have Julie Landgren Johnson, former National Kappa Delta President, as our special guest.  She gave a wonderful speech and also later that evening held a lecture for sorority women on campus.

Our 75th Anniversary was a complete success and our actives learned so much from the wonderful alumnae that were able to come and relive their Kappa Delta experience with us. We are thoroughly looking forward to our 100th Anniversary so that we, actives, can come and see the changes and relive our Kappa Delta experiences.

Shamrock Week!

Kappa Delta Beta Delta has been so busy lately!  The week of March 26th – the 30th we held our annual Shamrock fundraiser events!  These were the events that took place:

Our girls gathered a large crowd for the Wild Bill Comedy Roast by representing our event at the basket ball game that evening of the 28th

Our Greek Service Auction also went really well with the support of our fellow Greeks biding and providing services!  Thanks to all of you that participated!

We had a lot of support from our fellow USU Aggies and locals during Shamrock so it was a great success!  We raised over $4,000 for our philanthropies, Prevent Child Abuse America & The Child and Family Support Center, and we hope to raise even more next year.

Spring Formal

A few weeks ago, KD's attended their Spring Formal at Castle Manor in Logan. Socials chairs Sarah Blakely, Lucy Wachtor, and CeAnn Carpenter did a great job with planning, decorations, food and fun extras (including a photo booth and slideshow).  The theme was masquerade and girls spent many hours crafting masks for the occasion. The ladies arrived with their dates and took tons of pictures upon arrival (mostly with each other instead of their dates, haha). The KD's and their dates ate a nice dinner and then heard a mini presentation from the seniors. Following the senior recognition, New Member of the year and Member of the year were announced.
Congratulations to Sam Burrows (pictured right) who won New Member of the Year, and Chealsey Leach (pictured left) for receiving Member of the Year.

The ladies spent the rest of the night in the photo booth, mingling, laughing and talking. Great job socials chairs!
