This past weekend Beta Delta celebrated our 75 year anniversary~
We had several alumnae from all over come to join the celebration! On Friday the 13th, our active members were busy at work preparing the house for later that evening when our alumnae would begin their walk down Kappa Delta memory lane. When Alumnae arrived they were greeted by our actives who led them into conversation and took them on house tours. We go to know so many wonderful, accomplished, women that had several great stories to share of their times as active Kappa Deltas.
On the morning of Saturday the 14th, our active members held a mini pref party at the chapter house for our alumnae where we serenaded, mingled, and demonstrated our newer chapter traditions. We gathered our alumnae and took them into the road and sang "Pat" hand in hand in a large circle! Our fellow Alpha Chi Omega girls came out on their patio just to watch, and we also had spectators in cars and by the schools student center! We definitely gave an impression of our love and spirit for Kappa Delta no matter the generation gap.
After our Pref Party, Alumnae and Actives relocated at the Marriott Hotel Conference Center where we had a luncheon. We heard speeches given by Judy Lawton a member of our Chapter Advisory Board, Kayleigh Shaughnessy our current Chapter President, Heidi Smith our Vice President Membership, and other Alumnae. Kappa Delta - Beta Delta was also fortunate enough to receive one of our founding Chapter alumna's pins, #4, that will be kept and displayed at the chapter house. Most of all we were very lucky and happy to have Julie Landgren Johnson, former National Kappa Delta President, as our special guest. She gave a wonderful speech and also later that evening held a lecture for sorority women on campus.
Our 75th Anniversary was a complete success and our actives learned so much from the wonderful alumnae that were able to come and relive their Kappa Delta experience with us. We are thoroughly looking forward to our 100th Anniversary so that we, actives, can come and see the changes and relive our Kappa Delta experiences.
